NRA BASICS OF PISTOL

 NRA Basics of Pistol is intended for all individuals whether you're just wanting the NRA education or requiring moving on to an NRA Instructor role in the future. There is no prerequisite for this course. Regardless of previous shooting experience.

 

Course Objective:

To teach the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for owning and using a pistol safely.

 

Length of Course: 

 5 Hours Classroom Course and 3 Hours Range Qualification (Required by NRA guidelines) Additional time may be desirable in order for student to qualify for Level 4 Range Quals.

 

Course Lessons:

  • Lesson I: Pistol Knowledge and Safe Gun Handling

  • Lesson II: Ammunition Knowledge and the Fundamentals of Pistol Shooting

  • Lesson III: Firing the First Shots

  • Lesson IV: Two-Handed and One-Handed Standing Shooting Positions

  • Lesson V: Pistol Sports and Activities

 

Equipment requirements:

  • Semi-automatic pistol or revolver

  • 2 magazines for semi-automatic pistol 

  • Holster and magazines for semi-automatic pistol or holster and speed loaders for revolver

  • 50 rounds of factory ammunition

  • Ear protection, eye protection

  • Hat

  • C

    omfortable clothing including tennis shoes or hiking boots (NO open-toed shoes) 

  • Lunch, Snacks and Water. (There will be limited time for lunch

  • Upon completion of this course and successful completion of range qualification you will receive an NRA certified Diploma

A (3) Student minimum is required. 

Classroom Evolution - 5 Hours

Range Evolution - 3 Hours
